To provide both special needs children and their families a fun & safe environment to grow socially and emotionally through the game of basketball.

About Us

NYABC (Not Your Average Basketball Camp) ran its first camp in May 2014, and has been steadily growing ever since. We have run clinics regularly in the greater Los Angeles and Orange County area. The inspiration to run the basketball camp stemmed from a lack of active opportunities for special needs children and their families.

Curtis Takimoto and Ryan Lee (Co-founders) are both Los Angeles natives. They began playing organized basketball against each other in leagues at the age of 6, and have been involved in the basketball community ever since. From there, a rich friendship developed and they began spending more time together from playing basketball, coaching, and even working together.
